How to Use the “Add to Spotify” Button on TikTok

Estimated Read Time: 4 min.
Guide on how to seamlessly add songs from TikTok to Spotify using the new feature.
Overview

The Add to Spotify button on TikTok lets you save eligible songs from TikTok videos to your Spotify Liked Songs without leaving the TikTok app. This only works for songs that are available on Spotify, so some remixes, edits, voiceovers, or user-uploaded sounds may not show the option.

If your For You Page is not showing the kind of songs or videos you like, you can also reset your TikTok FYP to help refresh your recommendations.

How to Add the Spotify Button on TikTok

You only need to connect Spotify to TikTok the first time you use the feature.

  • Go to your TikTok Profile.
  • Open Settings and privacy.
  • Select Music.
  • Choose Spotify.
  • TikTok will open Spotify or a Spotify login page. All you need to do is authorize.

You may also be able to connect Spotify from a TikTok video:

  • Find a video that uses an eligible song.
  • Tap the song name or sound icon.
  • Look for Add song, Add song to music app, or Spotify and then press the button.
  • Approve the connection when prompted.

How to Use the Spotify Button on TikTok

Once your accounts are linked, you can save eligible TikTok songs to Spotify in a few taps.

  • Open a TikTok video that uses a song you want to save.
  • Tap the song name or sound icon to open the sound page.
  • Look for Spotify, Add song, or Add to music app.
  • Tap the button.
  • TikTok will add the song to your Spotify Liked Songs.
  • Open Spotify if you want to listen to it later or move it into another playlist.

Why You Can’t Add Some TikTok Songs to Spotify

If the Spotify button does not appear, the sound may not be an original song available on Spotify. TikTok says only original songs that are available on the selected music app can be added.

The feature may also be missing if your TikTok app is outdated, your Spotify account is not connected, or the option has not rolled out to your account or region yet. Try updating both apps, reconnecting Spotify from TikTok’s Music settings, and testing the feature on another video that uses an official song. TikTok also rolls out some features gradually, which is why options like the “Add to Spotify” button or the photo comments on TikTok may appear for some users before others.

Conclusion

The Add to Spotify button is a useful shortcut for saving songs you discover on TikTok without having to search for them manually. Once Spotify is connected, eligible tracks can be added straight to your Liked Songs in just a few taps.

If the option does not show up, it usually means the sound is not available on Spotify, the feature has not reached your account yet, or the apps need to be updated. Try another official song, reconnect Spotify, and check again after updating TikTok and Spotify.
